 Projects approved by the Committee: 

2019 – 09 – Travel grant for Dr. Joanne Marie Flor, Urology resident to attend the SIU (Societe Internationale de Urologie) Congress in Greece on October 17- 20, 2019. She will make an oral presentation on her paper. “Bacteriology and Antibi-otic Sensitivity Pattern of Isolates in Patients who Underwent percutaneous Nephrolithotripsy (PCNL) at the Philippine General Hospital.” And poster presentation on “Practice of Percutaneous Nephrolithotripsy (PCNL) and Outcomes at the Philippine General Hospital.” The amount is $2,000. 

2019 – 10 – Assistance to the medical clinic in UP Visayas. Funding to provide chairs for the reception area of the medical clinic in Miagao, Iloilo, at the UP Visayas, Philippines. Funds were donated by the donors to the Eulogio Estampador scholarship fund in UPMASA, re-directed towards this project. Amount: $1047.00 

2019 – 11 – Travel grant for Dr. Glaiza S. de Guzman the current chief resident of the Department of Obstetrics and Gyne-cology to the 27th World Congress on Controversies in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility (COGI) in Paris, France on November 21 – 23, 2019. She will make a poster presentation on her two papers: “Impact of Revised Management Poli-cies on the Efficiency of Gynecologic Operating Room Processes in a Tertiary Training Hospital” and “Myomatous Erythro-cytosis Syndrome: A Case Series” Amount of grant is $2,000. (Note that this is the first travel grant that was initially screened and reviewed by PGH Research Office before submission to the PCC. All travel grant applications will henceforth go through this process before submission to the PCC.) 

2019 – 12 – SHOut-Out to Kids’ and Teens’ Mental Health (SHOOKT), On October 10, 2019, in celebration of the National Mental Health Week, the Philippine General Hospital Section of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry will hold this event at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. This is the first of its kind in the Philippines – a youth-savvy, fun and educational project open to the public, focusing on mental health promotion. $700.00 was approved to help defray the cost of the event.
