REPORT ON NCC-UPMASA MASQUERADE 2023

“It’s a Small World” was the theme of NCC-UPMASA successful fundraising event held on November 11, 2023 in Vallejo, California.  Members and their guests arrived in various international attires, adding to the evening’s glamour and excitement. The concerted efforts by the pioneer as well as new young alumni members contributed to the success of this highly anticipated and well attended event.

Drs. Edgar Oteyza ’75 and Veronica David ’84 worked tirelessly to have a memorable souvenir program, which is the primary income generating factor for the fundraising.  Dr. Evelyn Maddela ’76 was in charge of the sophisticated decorations that set the aura for the elegant evening.  Dr. Eleanor Martinez ’76 contracted the caterer, and her friends assisted with the orderly consumption of the delicious buffet.

The registration process was well organized as headed by Dr. Eileen Primero ’78, and assisted by Drs. Miriam Cosca-Cruz ’70, Lene Martinez ’67, and Jean Macarubbo ’84. The members provided various door prizes, which were handled by Dr. Alice DelRosario ’78 while winners’ names were announced through the projections done by Dr. Marcial Salvador ’01 and his family. Dr. Erwin Samson and cohorts provided the popular photo booth that captured the different vibes of the colorful night. Dr. Oteyza was also in-charge of the band that offered lively dance music throughout the evening.  The program went smoothly with the expert emceeing by Drs. Eliza Raymundo ‘2001 and Christian Bocobo ’79. There were entertaining dance presentations by some of the guests. Our sponsored science high school scholar Mikaela Miraflor was handed the check during the break. The evening culminated with the awards for best costumes, headed by Drs. Edith Orlino-Oliva ’70 and Lene Martinez ’67, who also contributed the gift card prizes. The auxiliary members and the spouses of the members have also been active in supporting this activity and our projects.

What made this Masquerade more successful and vibrant was the presence of our energetic new members from UPCM ‘2001, their spouses and their children. (*Eloi, please list the names of your classmates who attended and the emcees.) They took over the technical aspects and photography during the party. It made everyone feel and realize that the future of our great chapter is in good hands of these enthusiastic and reliable alumni. They will surely bring more innovative and valuable projects for this chapter.

Looking forward to another Masquerade Ball on October 19, 2024. Hopefully you can all join us for this worthwhile and lively event which benefits out alma mater, the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, and the Philippine General Hospital.
